I love to cook but I hate the meal planning and the shopping. I started noticing on Facebook ads for meal delivery services. I tried one but was not impressed so I went to Consumer Reports which reviewed the top plans and recommended Hello Fresh as the best. I was trying to find something simple, easy, fresh, and appealing to My Favorite Yankee’s discriminating taste. I think I found it.
Here’s how it works. Each week I use the Hello Fresh app on my iPhone and order three meals on the Classic Plan. My meals arrive on Monday. The meat is excellent and the vegetables fresh. Every thing I need is included- such things as spices and sour cream. The only things I need to have on hand are salt, pepper, olive oil, and butter. Each meal ingredients come in a separate box. No meal has taken longer than 35 minutes to prepare. Nothing is cooked. I prepare it all.
Here are some examples so far we have really enjoyed: Parmesan-Crusted Cod with Herbed Potatoes and Carrots, Poblano Beef Chili, Sesame Chicken Noodles with Cabbage and Chili Oil Drizzle, Dukkah Chicken with Sweet Potatoes and Snap Peas, Steak and Potatoes with Creamed Kale and Peppercorn Sauce, and Sugar Sweet Pork Chops with Mixed Root Vegetables.
Each week, I am given six choices and I choose three. There are plans for two people, family plans, and vegan plans. If I want to skip a week I can or I can change a selection as long as I do it five days in advance. Consumer Reports rated Hello Fresh high for taste, freshness, and nutritional value. Every meal comes with a card containing cooking instructions with pictures. I pay 59.95 per week.
Why do I like this? I get only what I need to make the meal. Planning is taken care of. No shopping for three meals. Taste is excellent. Food is fresh and quality. Directions are simple. The meals are healthy with lots of vegetables. Best of all, My Favorite Yankee is happy.
